Prep. is for prep

Once you move into production you need human experts for the next step.

We help productions move from ballpark to project-specific planning and budget.

Who we are

Two senior practitioners with complementary perspectives across production, post, VFX, and the European co-production market.

Neeltje van der Heijden and Hans van Helden built Prep. from years of real production and post work across Europe. Hans brings a broad production-solutions view shaped by years in freelance supervision, facility leadership, and Netflix EMEA. Neeltje brings deep hands-on post supervision experience across international co-productions, features, documentaries, and series.

Together, that means Prep is informed by both strategic oversight and day-to-day execution: what looks balanced on paper, what actually holds under pressure, and what tends to break once a project enters production and post.

We also stay closely connected to the wider industry through training and education. That includes APostLab, Production Value, and guest lectures at film schools across Europe.

Hans van Helden

Production, post, and VFX strategy

Hans spent 14 years as a freelance post and VFX supervisor, then built and ran Filmmore Brussels, and later led Production Solutions at Netflix EMEA across more than 20 markets. His perspective combines post expertise with facility operations, production realities, and regional workflow strategy.

Neeltje van der Heijden

Post supervision and international co-productions

Neeltje is an Amsterdam-based freelance post-production supervisor and consultant, working independently since 2015 on international co-productions across features, documentaries, and series. She is also co-owner and group leader at APostLab and brings decades of hands-on post experience, from DI production through to complex delivery-driven projects.

Why that perspective matters

Prep is shaped by real project work, but also by years of teaching, mentoring, and industry exchange.

That matters because it keeps the tool grounded in current practice rather than in theory alone. Through project work, APostLab, Production Value, and regular teaching, we stay close to the way producers, post supervisors, line producers, editors, VFX supervisors, and facilities are actually working across the region.

Hundreds of budgets and schedules handled across professional live-action projects.
Direct experience across post, VFX, production planning, delivery, and facility-side realities.
A practical understanding of the European co-production landscape, not just post in isolation.
A broad regional network that includes post supervisors, producers, line producers, budget controllers, VFX supervisors, editors, and colorists.

Regional perspective

We understand the European co-production landscape beyond just post budgeting. That includes the pros and cons of working across different countries, regional workflows, facility choices, and the practical consequences of cross-border decisions.

How we help
